---------------------------------------------------------------------

Not sure what to include in your Nerja travel itinerary?

There are actually many exciting activities you can try in and around Nerja, and this Nerja travel guide will let you in on the most popular ones.

Diving

If you just go to Burriana Beach, the most famous beach in town, you will find a PADI-certified scuba diving center where you can take diving lessons or, if you’re already an expert, you can hire a guide who will accompany you in exploring the rich marine reserves of the Cerro Gerdo National Park. Night dives are available, too, as long as the weather is fine.

Apart from Nerja, there are many other excellent dive sites along the Costa del Sol, such as the Tres Picos, the Herradura Wall and La Torre in Marbella and if you are a true diving enthusiast, you shouldn’t pass up the opportunity to go diving around Gibraltar, where there are many interesting shipwrecks, and a wider variety of fish.

Horse Riding

Everywhere in Andalusia, even in Nerja, you can get the chance to ride one of the finest horses in the world, the Andalusian Horse or Pure Spanish Horse. These horses are very elegant with thick manes, broad chests and slender legs, and also have a nice temperament.

You can consult a Nerja travel guide about the different riding stables around town which offer various riding itineraries. Usually, there are horses available for advanced riders, as well as for beginners. Keep in mind that some are only open at certain times of the year.

Walking

There are plenty of charming Andalusian villages for you to explore in the area, starting with Frigiliana which is just fifteen minutes away. The region of Las Alpujarras is also a popular choice.

Hiking

The Sierra Tejeda and Sierra Almijara are just near Nerja and they are great places to go hiking, though the Sierra Nevada is the more popular tourist destination, with excellent trails across hills, orchards and valleys.

Skiing

Sierra Nevada is more known as a ski resort, though. In fact, it is considered one of the best ski resorts in the world, enjoying good snowfall in spite of the fact that it is located in the south of Spain. During winter, it is possible to bathe in the warm waters of Nerja or sunbathe in the morning and then go skiing amidst pristine white landscapes in the afternoon.

Learning Spanish Culture

Whether you want to learn how to speak Spanish, cook Spanish delicacies or dance the flamenco, there are various centers in Nerja and nearby towns that offer the opportunity, which you can locate with the help of a Nerja travel guide.
